Camporee Scout Badge
The Rockport Boy Scouts Troop 20 were the sponsors of this years Yankee Clipper Council’s North Shore District Spring Camporee, Camping and Hiking were the theme this year, the Scouts had a choice of hiking five, seven and ten miles of trails in Dog Town. They all met at Adams Pines for a nice lunch that they cooked on coal fires. Special thanks goes out to Mr. Roy Silva Fire Warden of the Rockport Forest Fire Department who leant out a Forest Fire truck and to Mr. Jerry Peckham who volunteered his time on the truck another thanks to Bro. John Jordan who spent the weekend at the base camp as medical help. Fifteen different Troops from all over the North Shore attended this event, with about two hundred and thirty Scouts and Leaders. Camping on top of Summit Ave. (Hospital Hill) the scouts enjoyed the great weather and a camp fire Saturday night with story telling, skits, songs, and even a visit from the famous Hugo. Gary G.
